TwinBridge Language Partner series is available in the Chinese, Japanese, Korean and combined CJK versions. The descriptions of the CJK Partner here apply to the Korean language version of this product.

Sample of Korean Input  -  Features  -  Utility Programs
Minimum System Requirements

The Korean Partner for Windows 2000/XP is the ultimate global multilingual system for Korean. Designed with powerful features and intuitive interface, it enables complex Asian language processing in standard English Windows as well as localized Windows.

Sample of Korean Input

Click on the “r” and “l” soft keys and the Korean phonemes andappear on the Input Prompt Line.

Now click on “a” for . You will notice the three phonemes are now combined to form the character .

Click on the “Enter” soft key and the character on the Input Prompt Line is sent to your WordPad document.

Repeat the same key sequence but instead of “Enter,” click the “Space” soft key to convert Hangul to Hanja . There may be more than one Hanja equivalent. Click one of the numeric keys (1 through 9 and 0) to make your selection (in this instance, 1 is your only choice).

The Input Prompt Line is in the “Sentence” mode by default, which allows multiple characters to be cumulated in the prompt line and subsequently sent all together to the application in use. There is also an option that allows you to send “One Hangul” at a time directly to the application.

The Korean phrase is now displayed in the application.

Unique Features of Korean Partner

Single Software as a Multilingual Platform

The Korean Partner globalizes Korean in Windows and provides superior compatibility of multilingual processing to computer hardware, Windows platforms and Windows application software.  You can easily edit and print Korean and English texts into Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, FrontPage, Sun StarOffice, Outlook, PageMaker, PhotoShop, PeachTree, Eudora, MSN Messenger and other MS compatible applications.

Korean Input Methods

The Korean Partner CD includes a set of 4 Korean Font.

Unicode and ANSI fonts.  Fonts are provided in both Unicode and ANSI formats. Unicode font face names begin with “TSC”,  such as “TSC KrnGungsuh” (a Korean font).  They are to be used in Unicode applications. Non-Unicode (ANSI) font face names begin with “Krn”. They are suitable for ANSI applications.

Selection of Internal Code

When the language preference is Korean, this button functions as a display icon .  The Korean  KSC code includes 8,300 Korean Hangual and Hanja characters and symbols.

Supports both Unicode and ANSI Applications

Unicode is fast becoming the mainstream standard in the software industry.  Applications such as those in Microsoft Office 2000/XP Suite are Unicode conformant and are suitable for processing multilingual documents.

Non-Unicode ANSI applications are still supported.  Legacy ANSI (non-Unicode) applications can be used in their native encoding standards. Examples: Adobe PageMaker and Eudora.

Single Cursor Text Processing

Single cursor text processing means cursor movements on any character work the same way as English characters. In the Unicode mode, the cursor will no longer walk into an East Asian character and there is no possibility of scrambling the text. This improvement is especially significant as more and more applications on the market are Unicode compliant and supported by the Korean Partner.

Friendly User Interface

The Input Prompt Line allows total control of the input environment and enables the user to input CJK characters with ease.

In addition, the Control Center provides intuitive and powerful system functions. It occupies a very small space on the screen when floating and can be hidden as an icon on the Task bar. All functions of the Control Center can be accessed by mouse clicks or keystrokes.

  • Variable size and floating feature meet users’ needs.

  • Extensive Help system is ready to assist you at all times.

  • Tip of the Day facilitates learning of the software.

Control Center

The CJK Partner Control Center is displayed as a toolbar, which contains a collection of buttons, as shown below:

Utility Programs

Super Code Converter

TwinBridge Korean Super Code Converter has three major functions. Each function can be performed alone or in conjunction with other functions.

  1. It converts the Korean internal code of a file from one code standard to another.

Super Code Converter enables file conversion among major Korean code standards as well as among several content formats. It allows conversion among KSC and Unicode documents in text (ASCII) file and in RTF (Rich Text Format) file.

  1. It can add or remove space padding between Korean characters for proper auto-text-wrapping in non-MS Office applications.

  1. It can convert a Korean document written with TwinBridge Korean Partner v4.x or earlier so that the document can be used in MS Office 2000/XP with Unicode format

Meta Converter

In certain graphics applications, direct input of Korean characters may not be possible. Meta Converter is designed to export Korean characters to the Clipboard or a file in Windows Graphics Standard Meta Format (WMF). The user can then transfer the data to a graphics application such as CorelDraw and AutoCAD.

Single-Byte Converter

When a graphics format can not be used (such as the Text Path function in certain applications), the Single-Byte Converter can be employed as an alternative to the Meta Utility.  Basically, the Single-Byte converter creates a new single-byte TrueType font (similar to the "Symbol" font) based on the Japanese character input.  Documents using a font thus created will always display properly on any Windows-based computer (provided the new font is delivered along with the document) because the character output is independent of any language support system. Please note that each font created by the Single-Byte Converter can only hold a maximum of 188 characters.

Minimum System Requirements
