What is new
in CJK Partner v6.0?
The CJK Partner Version 6.0 supports the
applications in Microsoft Office, which includes Word, Excel, Outlook,
PowerPoint, FrontPage, and Access. Other applications compatible with the
product include: WordPad, Notepad, Publisher 2002, PhotoShop 6.0, PageMaker 7.0,
Sun StarOffice 6.0, MSN Messenger, etc. as well as e-mail programs such as
Outlook Express, Eudora 5.0, and Netscape 6.x.
The new edition is the most extensive
upgrade of the Partner series in recent years. In this release, many features
are further standardized to be in keeping with the Windows development trend and
Unicode requirements, resulting in many improvements, chief among which are:
·
Enhanced Stability and User-Friendliness:
TwinBridge’s input method editor (IME) is now
integrated with the Windows Language Bar, ensuring stable and convenient
operation in Asian language input.
·
Automatic detection of cursor/IME mode:
When typing a CJK/English mixed document, the user
does not have to manually switch back and forth between CJK and English fonts;
and there is no “slippage” in cursor positioning.
·
Perfect Alignment and Hyphenation:
Text will always be properly “wrapped” and aligned in
Unicode mode.
·
Supports Asian Language File Naming:
File names can be saved in Chinese, Japanese, or Korean.
·
Extensive Built-in Help Contents:
The Help section in the software has been streamlined and
presented in Web view style for easy navigation; and the contents are expanded
to meet every need of users.

TwinBridge
Language Partner series is available in the
Chinese,
Japanese,
Korean and combined CJK versions.
Except where noted, the descriptions of the CJK Partner here
apply to all three single language versions of this product.
The CJK Partner for Windows 2000/XP (CJKP)
is the ultimate global multilingual system for Chinese, Japanese
and Korean. Designed with powerful
features and intuitive interface, it enables complex Asian language
processing in standard English Windows as well as localized Windows.

Unique Features of CJK Partner
Single Software as a
Multilingual Platform
The CJK Partner globalizes Chinese,
Japanese and Korean in Windows. It provides superior compatibility of
multilingual processing to computer hardware, Windows platforms and
Windows application software. With the CJKP, you can easily change the
language used from one to another. You can easily edit and print Chinese
and English texts into Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, FrontPage, Sun
StarOffice, Outlook, PageMaker, PhotoShop, PeachTree, Eudora, MSN
Messenger and other MS compatible applications.
CJK Input Methods
CJK Fonts
The CJK Partner CD includes a full
set of CJK fonts. The “Typical” installation for these three languages
only installs a standard set of fonts (11 Chinese/6 Japanese/4 Korean) for
users. You may add more TwinBridge fonts to your system by selecting the
“Custom” installation with a full set of fonts (49
Chinese/14 Japanese/4 Korean) available.
The Chinese BIG5 code includes 13,000
Chinese Traditional
characters and symbols. The Chinese GB code includes 7,000
Chinese Simplified characters and symbols.
The Japanese SJIS and JIS codes
include 6,700 Japanese
Romaji, Hiragana,
Kanji and Katakana
characters and symbols. The Korean KSC code
includes 8,300 Korean
Hangual and Hanja
characters and symbols.
Unicode and ANSI
fonts. Fonts are
provided in both Unicode and ANSI formats. Unicode font face names begin
with “TSC”, such as “TSC JSong” (a simplified Chinese font), “TSC FMing”
(a traditional Chinese font),
“TSC JpnMincho” (a Japanese font), and “TSC KrnGungsuh” (a Korean font).
They are to be used in Unicode applications. Non-Unicode (ANSI)
font face names begin with “Chn”, “Jpn” or “Krn”. They are suitable for
ANSI applications.
Selection of Internal Code
When the language preference is
Chinese,
Traditional Chinese
Big5 Code and
Simplified Chinese GB Code. When the language preference is
Japanese, it toggles between
Japanese EUC (JIS)
Code and
Japanese SJIS Code. When the language preference is Korean, this
button functions as a display
icon.
The encoding standards supported are:
Ř
GB, GBK,
Big5, and Big5+ encoding modes for Chinese,
Ř
JIS (EUC)
and Shift JIS encoding modes for Japanese, and
Ř
KSC 5601
encoding mode for Korean.
Supports both Unicode and
ANSI Applications
Unicode is fast
becoming the mainstream standard in the software industry.
Applications such as those in Microsoft Office 2000/XP
Suite are Unicode conformant and are
suitable for processing multilingual documents.
Non-Unicode
ANSI applications are still supported.
Legacy ANSI (non-Unicode)
applications can be used in their native encoding standards. Examples:
Adobe PageMaker and Eudora.
Display Simplified or
Traditional Chinese at Will
The system allows the display and
printing of Chinese to be independent of its internal code. The user may
force display from simplified to traditional and vice versa by using the
“Display Chinese by” feature in the Control Center. The forced display
function affects all current documents in a global fashion but their
underlying code in the text remains unchanged.
Single Cursor Text Processing
Single cursor text processing means
cursor movements on any character work the same way as English characters.
In the Unicode mode, the cursor will no longer walk into an East Asian
character and there is no possibility of scrambling the text. This
improvement is especially significant as more and more applications on the
market are Unicode compliant and supported by the CJK Partner.
Friendly User Interface
The
Input Prompt Line allows total control of the input environment and
enables the user to input CJK characters with ease.
In
addition, the Control Center provides intuitive and powerful system
functions. It occupies a very small space on the screen when floating and
can be hidden as an icon on the Task bar. All functions of the Control
Center can be accessed by mouse clicks or keystrokes.
-
Variable size and floating
feature meet users’ needs.
-
Extensive Help system
is ready to assist you at all times.
-
Tip of the Day
facilitates learning of the software.
Control Center
The CJK Partner Control Center is
displayed as a toolbar, which contains a collection of buttons, as shown

Super Code Converter
TwinBridge CJK (Chinese, Japanese and Korean) Super Code
Converter has three major functions. Each function can be
performed alone or in conjunction with other functions.
-
It
converts the CJK internal code of a file from one code standard to
another.
Super Code Converter enables file conversion among major
CJK code standards as well as among several content formats. It allows
conversion among GB, BIG5, GBK, BIG5+, Unicode, Japanese EUC (JIS)
Code, Japanese Shift-JIS Code and Korean KSC Code documents in
text (ASCII) file and in RTF (Rich Text Format) file.
This is an important utility which helps convert existing
documents to Unicode documents. The user can also convert a Unicode
document to ANSI file format such as the GB, BIG5, EUC (JIS), Shift-JIS
and KSC codes so that the document becomes compatible with many systems
currently in use. Example, GB and BIG5 Chinese documents can be
processed by previous versions of TwinBridge Chinese Partner.
Conversion of code should be made in the same language setting.
-
It can
add or remove space padding between CJK characters.
Space padding between CJK characters
may be required for proper auto-text-wrapping in non-MS Office
applications.
-
It can
convert a CJK document written with TwinBridge CP45/JP40/KP45 or earlier
so that the document can be used in MS Office.

Meta
Converter
In certain
graphics applications, direct input of CJK (Chinese, Japanese and Korean)
characters may not be possible. Meta Converter is designed to
export CJK characters to the Clipboard or a file in Windows Graphics
Standard Meta Format (WMF). The user can then transfer the data to a
graphics application such as CorelDraw and AutoCAD.
|
|
Single-Byte Converter
When a
graphics format can not be used (such as the Text Path function in certain
applications), the Single-Byte Converter can be employed as an alternative
to the Meta Utility. Basically, the Single-Byte converter creates a new
single-byte TrueType font (similar to the "Symbol" font) based on the CJK
(Chinese, Japanese and Korean) character input. Documents using a font
thus created will always display properly on any Windows-based computer (provided
the new font is delivered along with the document) because the character
output is independent of any language support system. Please note that
each font created by the Single-Byte Converter can only hold a maximum of
188 characters.

Custom Chinese IME Generator
The Chinese
system in the CJK Partner can simultaneously support three user-created
input methods. The installed custom input methods, coding rules, and main
features can all function correctly in the Chinese Partner. Additionally,
TwinBridge Chinese system functions such as input method install/un-install,
dictionary manager, sorting by usage frequency, short
prompt, character association, and others can all be applied to
the new input methods.
