Overview

PROMT® Translation Server 7.0 Intranet Edition is a client-server machine translation system developed on the base of Microsoft® .NET and works under Microsoft® Internet Information Server on the base of Windows® 2000, Windows® Server 2003 or Windows® XP Professional platforms. It has the optimized web-interface for widely-used browsers which play the role of client application on user workstations.

The system provides automatic and effective translation of multilingual information flows and/or content in 7 most popular European languages (22 translation directions) in different formats within the Intranet.

PROMT® Translation Server 7.0 Intranet Edition provides the following translation directions:

• English to/from Spanish
• English to/from French
• English to/from German
• English to/from Portuguese
• English to/from Russian
• German to/from Russian
• French to/from German
• French to/from Spanish
• French to/from Russian
• Spanish to/from Russian
• Italian to Russian
• Italian to English.

The system is delivered with any set of language directions required by customer.

PROMT® Translation Server 7.0 Intranet Edition allows translating quickly, with high quality and accuracy (takes into account the morphological, syntax and semantic rules):

• Incoming and outgoing correspondence;
• Documents within the corporate net;
• Information from Internet sites.

Operating procedure

Translation request is being sent from a user's workplace to the server with installed PROMT® Translation Server 7.0 Intranet Edition and, depending on current load, is transferred for translation or placed in queue. All processing is performed automatically on the same physical server that operates independently, without human intervention. Data exchange between the translation server and its users is realized under HTTP protocol, which makes it possible to use the system in an Intranet and to provide the access to the system both within the local net and from remote offices and affiliates.

Any web-browser (Microsoft® Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Netscape or Opera) can be used as a client application on user's workstations, no additional software is required on the client workplaces. Right after installation, the system is ready for operation and can be available for all users, who have the rights and access to the server with installed PROMT® Translation Server 7.0 Intranet Edition. A number of plug-ins for Windows® applications is delivered with the system. This allows users to receive access to the translation functions without leaving the window of a favorite application (for instance, Microsoft® Word).
